The San Antonio Spurs : Beautiful Game of Basketball

You don't have to be Spurs fan but if you are a true basketball fans you have to respect the Spurs. They aren't fancy team with fancy superstars, tons of dunks on every game, posterizing dunks, triple double from the superstars. If you love that, you just can focus to watch on another team that provide those fancy hoops.
They are just a team that playing basketball in the true way of basketball. It's all about the team, team play, team work. When everyone, organization, fans, media focus on individuals, the Spurs just keep do what they do. They do basketball as a team, a smart and great basketball. Epitomize the meaning of true team, we are greater than me. Just watch them play, you will find the meaning of basketball team play. Everybody can pass the ball, the players on the floor always get the spot and fill it. It just so pretty, the ball movement inside outside then drain the 3's, and looks like all the Spurs can shoot the 3's. Everybody might want to play in Spurs way, but you can't play with bunch of ego. And well ego is no go in Spurs.
We may know Spurs are only Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, the big three of the Spurs but on the floor they are a team that playing basketball as team play, they do what they told to do.
Coach Pop
Gregg Popovich, huge credits to the coach and the staff. Under the Pop's, Spurs become beautiful dynasty of basketball. They might lost the championship, but they lost it with class and their legacy, how they play the basketball will always stay. This 2013-2014, they do it again and again, go through the finals against the same opponent last year, the defending champion Miami Heat. Heat's big three are looking for three peat and Spurs big three nearing the end and all up for the final run. Last year, media noted this could be the last final for Spurs big three but they just do it again, maybe next year with Tim Duncan stays healthy we will never know. Because they are The San Antonio Spurs!!

Basketball : The Crossover

A crossover dribble is a basketball maneuver in which a player dribbling the ball switches the ball rapidly from one hand to the other, to make a change in direction. In a typical example the player heads upcourt, dribbling the ball in the left hand, then makes a wide step left with a good head fake. If the defender is deceived, the player can then switch to dribbling with the right hand and surpass the defender. The crossover can allow the player an open short jumper or a clear path to the basket.

There are six basic types of crossover:
  • Normal Crossover: In a normal crossover the player quickly changes direction while switching the ball to the opposite hand. This move relies primarily on speed.
  • Half Crossover (Also known as the "In and Out"): In a half crossover, a player brings the ball from one side of their body across their chest and back to the original position in one movement. The move is often done with a head fake and a step towards the opposite side of the original position to make it more "believable". A variation of the move may include the player doing a normal crossover after the half crossover to cause further difficulty for the defensive player.
  • Killer Crossover: In this move the player fakes in one direction, generally with a wide step and a head fake and usually from a standstill. The player then switches the dribble to the other hand between his legs and moves in that direction. This is one of the most effective methods of escaping a defender who is guarding closely. It is also popular in streetball because it can cause the defender to lose balance and fall in trying to react too quickly.
  • Behind the back Crossover (Also known as the "Shake and Bake"): Behind the back crossover is the same as the usual crossover except the ball is dribbled behind the player. Another version of this move is called the "wraparound," in which the player cups the ball in his hand and brings it around his back to the other side of his body in one quick, smooth motion. Jamal Crawford often uses this trick.
  • Double Crossover: This move can be considered a feigned crossover. The offensive player crosses the ball over (as with a normal or killer crossover) then quickly crosses the ball back to its original position. The double crossover is not aimed at breaking free of the defender so much as causing confusion and breaking the defender's balance. This move can also be replicated going between the legs or behind the back.
  • Ankle-Breaking Crossover: When a crossover move is performed and the defender trips over himself.
In these day, Jamal Crawford, Derrick Rose, Deron Williams are known as players who used crossover. Their crossover moves quite often appear on many highlights.

Top 10 NBA Best Players of 2013-2014 Season Part 2

Number 5.

Anthony Davis, Power Forward / Center, New Orleans Pelicans

Whether he was scoring on post moves, transition buckets, rolls to the basket, alley-oop finishes, put-back attempts or mid-range jumpers, Anthony Davis was putting up monstrous numbers during his sophomore season with the New Orleans Pelicans. The expansion of his range and the ability to create his own shots off the dribble just opened up a whole new world of possibilities. The Unibrow might have guard-like skills, but he's unable to generate assists for his teammates. When this 21-year-old gains more experience, he's only going to get better, as his rotations could stand to improve a bit. But Davis is a terrifying sight when he hedges and recovers on pick-and-rolls, he's versatile enough to protect the rim and guard more mobile big men, and he can switch onto any position for short bursts. He's basically a defensive prototype who needs a bit more refinement.

Number 4.

Stephen Curry, Point Guard, Golden State Warriors

A "perimeter specialist", create more looks for himself than any other perimeter specialist in the league. While Curry does a remarkable job setting himself up off the dribble, he's also a potent off-ball threat who constantly requires the undivided attention of at least one defender. And on top of that, he's used his creativity and flair for the one-handed pass off the bounce to become one of the top assist men in basketball.  He may not look like much of a rebounding threat, but Curry is one of the best in the business, at least among point guards. Don't make the mistake of considering Curry "just a shooter." He creates for himself off the dribble, passes the ball, rebounds well for his position and is finally figuring out how to use his mind to overcome his lack of natural ability on defense. He's a complete point guard.

Number 3.

Chris Paul, Point Guard, LA Clippers

Number three for CP3. A true master of the mid-range game, CP3 is one of the few floor generals capable of shooting high percentages while scoring in such high volume. Paul is one of the greatest on-court manifestations of leadership, and he never closes his mouth when he plays, always barking out instructions and ensuring that his teammates are in the best positions possible to thrive. CP3 has justifiably earned a reputation as one of the NBA's premier defenders at the position. Paul may stand only a smidgen over 6'0", but he routinely pulls down impressive rebounding figures. Not many point guards without the blessing of unbelievable size can grab five boards during a single outing with such frequency. If you're looking for the league's most balanced and impressive point guard, here he is. Paul does everything you could ask of a floor general, and he thrives in each facet of the game.

Number 2.

Lebron James, Forward, Miami Heat

LeBron James is one of the top scorers in the Association in terms of points per game. n the history of the NBA, just four players have posted a true shooting percentage higher than 64 percent while scoring over 27 points per game: Adrian Dantley (twice), Charles Barkley, Kevin Durant and LeBron. No forward in the NBA is better at passing the rock than LeBron, who routinely posts numbers that look as though they belong to a true point guard. Only his off-ball offense isn't perfect in this category, as LeBron doesn't spot up quite often enough to earn top marks. He's a deadly shooter 35th in spot-up points per possession and a phenomenal cutter, but he's sometimes willing to serve as nothing more than a decoy for a few possessions. LeBron continues to serve as a model basketball player. He excels in every single facet of the game, especially now that he's continued to hone his three-point stroke. He's an elite defender, a once-in-a-lifetime offensive threat, a great rebounder and a superb leader. The weaknesses just continue to disappear.

Number 1.

Kevin Durant, Small Forward, Oklahoma City Thunder

There's not any chance of a defender willingly leaving Durant open when he's not touching the ball. Defensive schemes are built around preventing him from gaining possession in space, which makes him a pretty special off-ball threat. He's also improved dramatically as a facilitator, showing far more willingness to use the pass as a tool of creation rather than just trying to escape from a double team. This was a huge area of improvement for Durant in 2013-14. No longer was he hidden by Scott Brooks, but he instead took on difficult matchups and aided the OKC defense with his ability to switch onto almost any offensive player. To continue breaking the "he's only a scorer" narrative, Durant thrived on the boards throughout the year. Averaging well over seven rebounds per game is something that an adequate power forward should do, not a player who primarily lined up at the 3 and carried his team's offense. He's a passionate leader who demands excellence, both from himself and his teammates. On top of that, he's remarkably durable. The OKC superstar morphed into a tremendous all-around player in 2013-14, one who could swing a game with his passing, defending and rebounding even if he was experiencing an ultra-rare off-night as a shooter. Oh, and he's still only 25 years old.

Top 10 NBA Best Players of 2013-2014 Season Part 1

The playoffs don't factor into these rankings, as the scores were compiled during the regular season. These ranks identifies the players who performed best during the 2013-14 season. Potential doesn't matter, and neither does reputation. It's all about what happened this season, and this season only. All positions are graded using the same criteria (though rim protection was added into the equation for bigger positions), but the categories are weighted differently to reflect changing roles :

Number 10.

Kevin Love, Power Forward, Minnesota Timberwolves

The big man stayed healthy this year, and his contributions from downtown helped make his high-scoring exploits especially valuable for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He's the league's best stretch 4, dominating defenses through intimidation when he stands out on the perimeter, and his passing is just spectacular. He's a phenomenal distributor, and his outlet passes are the best we've seen in decades. He was a bit shy of the league leaders in rebounds per game, Love remained one of the premier players in this category, regardless of said player's spot in the lineup. His lower body is so strong, and it's nearly impossible to knock him out of position. Throw aside the omnipresent rumors that Love isn't long for Minnesota; he's staunchly denied every single one of them, supporting his team and giving it his all each and every night he's able to suit up.

Number 9.

Joakim Noah, Center, Chicago Bulls

How many centers would you trust taking the ball up the court? Only a handful of names ring out, but Noah's leads the bunch because he can run the show and function as a point center. His passing skills are off the charts to the point that I was tempted to give him more than a perfect score in the distributing category. Among NBA centers, Noah set the curve for defense and non-traditional offense. Many things about him are unorthodox, from the ball-handling to the side-spinning free throws to the ponytail, but there's an old-school flair to his passion, defensive exuberance and flat-out hatred for his bitter rivals in the Eastern Conference. Noah is unarguably one of the most passionate players in basketball, and his never-say-die attitude is contagious. The combination resulted in the best season by a true center in 2013-14.

Number 8.

John Wall, Point Guard, Washington Wizards

The development of a consistent three-point stroke has done wonders for John Wall's scoring efficiency, but it's still not quite up to the standards produced by many of the NBA's top point-producing standouts. While Wall's outside shooting has been getting better, it's still not threatening enough to keep defenses fixated on him when the ball rests in the hands of a teammate on the Washington Wizards. Don't look now, but Wall has become a fantastic on-ball defender. He's become increasingly able to settle down in a defensive stance and make the opposing point guard have to fight for any sort of positioning. Wall likes to pick and choose the times when he crashes the boards. It makes him an efficient rebounder, but the fact that he pulls down over four rebounds per contest is a bit misleading. Every once in a while, he uses those insane hops to sky over a bigger player, but it would be nice to see him do so with more frequency. Also a true leader capable of motivating his troops into the playoffs. Throughout the 2013-14 season, the point guard has been both a vocal leader and a veteran who leads by example.

Number 7.

Blake Griffin, Power Forward, LA Clippers

Blake Griffin has developed into one of the top scorers in all of basketball. Not only does he put up nearly 25 points per game, but he does so while making over half his shots from the field in almost every game and over 70 percent of his freebies. Griffin doesn't throw outlet passes like Kevin Love, but he's such a good distributor that Doc Rivers feels confident having the Los Angeles Clippers run the offense through the power forward. Even when Chris Paul is on the court. On top of that, he's such an athletic and aggressive finisher that looking away from him for even one second can result in a The Mozgov or The Perkins. He's not really a good defender, but under the tutelage of Rivers, Griffin developed his instincts to the point that he is no longer a liability, particularly when guarding players rolling to the basket, Griffin was blasted for his lack of effort on the glass last season, but he fixed all those problems in 2013-14. He's not quite on the same level as the truly elite rebounders, but he's not far from that status either.

Number 6.

Carmelo Anthony, Forward, New York Knicks

He can put up as many points as anyone during a single game and was one of just two players to top 60 points during the 2013-14 season. He can knock down three-pointers or put his back to the basket and torture defenders in the post. He can hit the tough, superstar shots that he creates for himself. One of the greatest myths out there is that Melo isn't a great rim-protector and often takes possessions off. Another underrated element of Anthony's game came on the glass, where he set career highs in rebounds per game, rebounds per 36 minutes and defensive rebounding percentage. He was already an asset on the boards in the past, but he flat-out excelled this year. The 2013-14 season could've easily become a never-ending stream of distractions for this impending free agent. But he chose to stay focused throughout the entire campaign, giving the Knicks his full attention and staying both motivated and healthy until his shoulder problems at the end of the year.
