The San Antonio Spurs : Beautiful Game of Basketball

You don't have to be Spurs fan but if you are a true basketball fans you have to respect the Spurs. They aren't fancy team with fancy superstars, tons of dunks on every game, posterizing dunks, triple double from the superstars. If you love that, you just can focus to watch on another team that provide those fancy hoops.
They are just a team that playing basketball in the true way of basketball. It's all about the team, team play, team work. When everyone, organization, fans, media focus on individuals, the Spurs just keep do what they do. They do basketball as a team, a smart and great basketball. Epitomize the meaning of true team, we are greater than me. Just watch them play, you will find the meaning of basketball team play. Everybody can pass the ball, the players on the floor always get the spot and fill it. It just so pretty, the ball movement inside outside then drain the 3's, and looks like all the Spurs can shoot the 3's. Everybody might want to play in Spurs way, but you can't play with bunch of ego. And well ego is no go in Spurs.
We may know Spurs are only Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, the big three of the Spurs but on the floor they are a team that playing basketball as team play, they do what they told to do.
Coach Pop
Gregg Popovich, huge credits to the coach and the staff. Under the Pop's, Spurs become beautiful dynasty of basketball. They might lost the championship, but they lost it with class and their legacy, how they play the basketball will always stay. This 2013-2014, they do it again and again, go through the finals against the same opponent last year, the defending champion Miami Heat. Heat's big three are looking for three peat and Spurs big three nearing the end and all up for the final run. Last year, media noted this could be the last final for Spurs big three but they just do it again, maybe next year with Tim Duncan stays healthy we will never know. Because they are The San Antonio Spurs!!

Basketball : The Crossover

A crossover dribble is a basketball maneuver in which a player dribbling the ball switches the ball rapidly from one hand to the other, to make a change in direction. In a typical example the player heads upcourt, dribbling the ball in the left hand, then makes a wide step left with a good head fake. If the defender is deceived, the player can then switch to dribbling with the right hand and surpass the defender. The crossover can allow the player an open short jumper or a clear path to the basket.

There are six basic types of crossover:
  • Normal Crossover: In a normal crossover the player quickly changes direction while switching the ball to the opposite hand. This move relies primarily on speed.
  • Half Crossover (Also known as the "In and Out"): In a half crossover, a player brings the ball from one side of their body across their chest and back to the original position in one movement. The move is often done with a head fake and a step towards the opposite side of the original position to make it more "believable". A variation of the move may include the player doing a normal crossover after the half crossover to cause further difficulty for the defensive player.
  • Killer Crossover: In this move the player fakes in one direction, generally with a wide step and a head fake and usually from a standstill. The player then switches the dribble to the other hand between his legs and moves in that direction. This is one of the most effective methods of escaping a defender who is guarding closely. It is also popular in streetball because it can cause the defender to lose balance and fall in trying to react too quickly.
  • Behind the back Crossover (Also known as the "Shake and Bake"): Behind the back crossover is the same as the usual crossover except the ball is dribbled behind the player. Another version of this move is called the "wraparound," in which the player cups the ball in his hand and brings it around his back to the other side of his body in one quick, smooth motion. Jamal Crawford often uses this trick.
  • Double Crossover: This move can be considered a feigned crossover. The offensive player crosses the ball over (as with a normal or killer crossover) then quickly crosses the ball back to its original position. The double crossover is not aimed at breaking free of the defender so much as causing confusion and breaking the defender's balance. This move can also be replicated going between the legs or behind the back.
  • Ankle-Breaking Crossover: When a crossover move is performed and the defender trips over himself.
In these day, Jamal Crawford, Derrick Rose, Deron Williams are known as players who used crossover. Their crossover moves quite often appear on many highlights.

2014 UEFA Champions League Final Facts

The 2014 final wasn't just happy ending of La Decima quest for Real Madrid, but there is some facts that you would like to know

  • Real Madrid CF's showdown against Club Atlético de Madrid in Lisbon was the seventh UEFA Champions League final to go to extra time but the first to be resolved without a penalty shoot-out.
  • All of the previous six finals undecided after 90 minutes failed to produce a goal in the additional half-hour, making Gareth Bale the first player to score in extra time of a UEFA Champions League final.
  • The 4-1 scoreline was the second biggest win in a UEFA Champions League final after AC Milan's 4-0 victory over FC Barcelona in 1994. Two deciders ended 3-0 – Real Madrid CF v Valencia CF in 2000 and FC Porto v AS Monaco FC in 2004.
  • The five goals scored in Lisbon made 2014 the second highest-scoring UEFA Champions League final; the biggest match aggregate remains the 3-3 draw between Liverpool FC and Milan in 2005.
  • Madrid's four goals lifted their aggregate for the 2013/14 campaign to a final total of 41. Although short of Barcelona's all-time high of 45 in 1999/2000, it is a record for a 13-game season and set a new competition average high of 3.15 goals per game. No other team have ever managed over three per game over a UEFA Champions League campaign, Barça's 1999/2000 figure having been 2.81.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty against Atlético lifted his record tally of goals for a single European Cup campaign to a final figure of 17. He is now level in the competition's all-time goalscorer charts with Lionel Messi, on 67, four adrift of record marksman Raúl González.
  • Ronaldo's goal in Lisbon made him the first player to score in a UEFA Champions League final for two different clubs, having found the net for Manchester United FC in 2008. Three other players – Raúl, Samuel Eto'o and Messi - have scored in two finals but for the same club.
  • Ronaldo's penalty was only the seventh to be awarded in a UEFA Champions League final but the third in successive years following Arjen Robben's missed spot kick for FC Bayern München in 2012 and İlkay GündoÄŸan's successful conversion for Borussia Dortmund in 2013.
  • Real Madrid's victory was not only a record tenth triumph in the European Cup but also a record fourth in the UEFA Champions League era, placing them one ahead of Milan and Barcelona.
  • It was Madrid's fourth win in as many finals and came in the club's 200th match in the competition – a landmark previously reached by only one club, Manchester United. With United not in the competition next season, Madrid will have the appearance record to themselves when they begin their title defence on matchday one next season.
  • Carlo Ancelotti became the second coach to win the European Cup three times after Bob Paisley who led Liverpool to glory in 1977, 1978 and 1981.
  • Of the three men who have won the UEFA Champions League as a coach after lifting the European Cup as a player, Ancelotti is now the most decorated, with five winner's medals combined. Frank Rijkaard has four and Josep Guardiola three.
  • Atlético's defeat means that the record of no non-European coach winning the UEFA Champions League remains, Diego Simeone suffering the same fate as Héctor Cúper, who lost back-to-back finals with Valencia CF in 2000 and 2001.
